Tuguegarao City – The Department of Social Welfare and Development Field Office 02 (DSWD-FO2) through its Pan

Tuguegarao City – The Department of Social Welfare and Development Field Office 02 (DSWD-FO2) through its PantawidPamilyang Pilipino Program culminated the Family Month celebration with a Family Day at Casa Angela, Tuguegarao City on September 27-28, 2017.

 

Approximately 80 persons composed of the Regional Program Management Office (RPMO) of DSWD-FO2; the HuwaranPantawidPamilya provincial winners; partner agencies from the Population Commission, Universal Peace Federation and Philippine Information Agency; and selected beneficiaries/families of the PantawidPamilya Program attended the activity.

 

The main event of the celebration was for the awarding ceremony of the Regional Search for HuwarangPantawidPamilya 2017, where the provincial winners from Cagayan, Quirino, Isabela and Nueva Vizcaya vied for the title. The Respicio family of Enrile, Cagayan was hailed the regional winner followed by the Palding Family of Quirino, Sagaysay family of Isabela and Alacar family of Nueva Vizcaya resulting from the regional validation conducted from August 25-28, 2017.

 

Ms. Rosalinda Beltran, of the DSWD-FO2, congratulated the winners of the prestigious search and encouraged the other family participants in maintaining a household that not only embodies the qualities of a HuwaranPantawidPamilya but also the virtues of a Filipino family.Each of the provincial winners showcased their talents during the family day celebration in the form of dance and song numbers. Other participants also used this opportunity to showcase their own talents.

 

Testimonial of the regional search came from one of the validators, Ms PilarCabacungan of the Universal Peace Federation, she emphasized on the camaraderie which was borne out of the activity between partner agencies together with the family beneficieries. She complimented the families in their resilience and resourcefulness in providing for their day-to-day needs as well as educational needs of their children.

 

The event also highlighted Eliza Respicio’s testimonial as the regional winner. She described their impoverished state as a family of 9 with only her husband who provided for their family and emphasized on the difficulty of not being prepared during medical emergencies for a family who had no medical insurance from Philhealth. She recounted with pride how they were able to save up enough to purchase a second-hand tricycle that they now use as their main transportation.

 

After the awarding, the families were encouraged to join in on various games with prizes. The Regional winners were also prepped for the trip to Muntinlupa City in Manila for the celebration of the National Family Day.
