Sustaining its partnership with the Department of Social Welfare and Development Field Office 2 (DSWD FO2) through the implementation of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps), the Global Peace Foundation (GPF) Philippines launched its All-Lights Village (ALV) Project in the province of Cagayan, specifically in the municipalities of Amulung and Baggao.
The All-Lights Village Project aims to provide solar lighting and promote holistic community development in off-grid areas. By replacing kerosene lamps with clean and sustainable energy, the project supports improved education outcomes, better health and safety conditions, and the promotion of self-reliance and peace through values-based programs and strong partnerships with local leaders and local government units.
The project reached the geographically isolated communities of Sitio Mapilpila, Brgy. Magogod, Amulung, and Sitio Cagurangan, Brgy. Awallan, Baggao, where 100 households in each municipality received solar lamps. Of the total recipients, 19 households in Brgy. Magogod, Amulung and 31 households in Brgy. Awallan, Baggao are beneficiaries of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program.
In addition to household solar lamps, GPF provided ten (10) solar streetlights per barangay. These streetlights, together with the All-Lights Village project marker pedestal, will be installed in partnership with the Local Government Units of Amulung and Baggao to further enhance community safety and visibility at night.
The project launching was made more meaningful through the conduct of a visioning activity and community needs assessment with the beneficiaries. This activity allowed residents to share their experiences and identify other priority needs, providing valuable inputs for possible future interventions.
The ALV Project launch was led by GPF Executive Director Leonard Faustino, together with Program Directors for Community Development Jocelyn Remigio and Lancelot Enghog. Also present was Mamie Magbanua, Community Mobilizer of the Saint Paul University Philippines–Community Development Center Foundation Inc.
In Amulung, the activity was attended by Local Chief Executive Elpidio Rendon, MSWDO Myrna Matias, Sangguniang Bayan members, and Brgy. Magogod Chair Noel Verbo.
Meanwhile, the Baggao launching was graced by Local Chief Executive Dr. Leonardo Pattung, Vice Mayor Rowel Gazmen, MSWDO Elvie Salvador, Sangguniang Bayan members, and Brgy. Awallan Chair Manirex Goronio.
DSWDFO2 was represented by Mervin Mercado and Sophia Darsie Pasion of the 4Ps Regional Program Management Office, and the Municipal Action Teams of Amulung and Baggao.
