BASCO, BATANES — The Department of Social Welfare and Development Field Office 2 (DSWD FO2), through its Social Welfare and Development (SWAD) Batanes, in coordination with the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO), conducted an orientation on its core programs and localized program implementation for barangay officials and local government unit (LGU) links on August 18, 2026 at the Provincial HRTC Hall in Basco, Batanes.

The activity aimed to strengthen the capacity of barangay officials and LGU partners to better understand, access, and facilitate the delivery of DSWD services in their respective communities.

The orientation covered four major DSWD programs, namely the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps), Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP), Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situations (AICS), and Disaster Response Management Division (DRMD).

The orientation also underscored the importance of localized program implementation, particularly the coordination among DSWD, LGUs, barangays, and other local partners in identifying needs and connecting vulnerable individuals and families to appropriate interventions.

Through the activity, DSWD FO2 strengthened its partnership with local government and barangay officials as frontline partners in ensuring that social protection services reach intended beneficiaries, particularly those in geographically isolated and vulnerable communities in Batanes.

The orientation forms part of the Department’s continuing efforts to bring its programs closer to communities through stronger local coordination, informed referrals, and responsive social protection delivery.
