PROJECT LAB UPDATES | Community associations in four municipalities in Nueva Vizcaya are now taking charge of the Project LAWA at BINHI sites following the formal ceremonial turnover by the DSWD Field Office 2.
The turnover was held from September 2-4, 2026 in Diadi, Aritao, Ambaguio and Bayombong, marking the completion of the project interventions and the start of their community-led management.
Through the activity, the DSWD FO2 turned over the project to the organized associations, with the provincial and municipal governments and partner agencies committing to help them maintain and improve the sites.
Representatives from the Provincial Government of Nueva Vizcaya and the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) expressed their support for the communities. The local chief executives also welcomed the turnover and pledged their continued assistance.
The Municipal Agriculture Office, Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office, and Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office likewise committed to provide technical assistance, monitoring and coordination as the associations take over the projects.
The turnover included Certificates of Turnover and the symbolic handover of project materials, a pail of fingerlings and a basket of seedlings.
For the communities, these were more than just project materials. They represent food that can be produced, livelihood that can be sustained and projects that can continue to benefit families even after the DSWD’s initial intervention.
With the project now in the hands of the organized associations, their commitment to maintain the sites, continue production and make the interventions work for their communities will be key to keeping the gains of Project LAWA at BINHI alive.
The DSWD, LGUs and partner agencies will continue to provide support as the communities work to sustain the projects and strengthen their sources of food, livelihood and water.
