The Department of Social Welfare and Development Field Office II advises the public to be cautious of giving donations to individuals or group of people who solicits for the victims of typhoon Yolanda.

The public is advised that soliciting donations for typhoon victims is regulated by law. Thus, DSWD issues permit to organizations or persons who conduct solicitations to ensure that all kinds of donations will be given to the communities and individuals that were damaged by the typhoon.

An incident of this was already reported last December wherein two Filipinos in Thailand falsely solicited donations for the victims of typhoon Yolanda. The two were already arrested.

The public is also advice to be extra cautious in discerning whether a solicitation is lawful or otherwise.

For more information about conduct of solicitations, please call 846-7043 or visit the DSWD Field Office 02 at No. 09 Dalan na Pagayaya, Regional Government Center, Carig, Tuguegarao City. ###By MARICEL B. ASEJO, Pantawid Information Officer II
