Face to face interview. Secretary Soliman with Dir. Remia T. Tapispisan address all DSWD’s issues and concerns to the Media practitioners of Region II.

DSWD’s Secretary Corazon “Dinky” Juliano-Soliman declares the start of the Second Round of Family Assessment in September during the Press Conference held at Valley Hotel, Penblanca, Cagayan recently.

One of the agenda during the Media Hour of Sec. Soliman is the conduct of Family Assessment of the National Household Targeting System for Poverty Reduction (NHTS-PR) with the new brand name LISTAHANAN.

Sec. Soliman said that the Family Assessment will not only identify who and where the poor are, but will also determine the development in the economic lives of the Pantawid Pamilya beneficiaries.

The Second Wave of Assessment will also help us determine what intervention we will give to the identified poor”, Sec. Soliman said.

Meanwhile, Regional Household Targeting Unit (RHTU) is now doing a massive preparation for the said enormous Family Assessment such as orientation of Local Government Unit (LGUs) and continuous man pooling of field staff.

Sec. Soliman added, “The data that will be gathered by the field staff will run thru the Proxy Means Test (PMT). This model will estimate the income of the households and be compared to the poverty threshold of the province in order to determine the poor households.

In addition, the Family Assessment will cover 622,659 households in Region II. With this, about 1,297 Enumerators, 259 Area Supervisors and 52 Area Coordinators will be hired to facilitate the said assessment.

“The Listahanan database is a complete database wherein we can see the poorest of the poor, near poor and non-poor. We will lobby this Talaan to the other stakeholders so that there will be converged efforts to help the identified poor and lessen the poverty incidence”, Sec. Soliman stated. ###By: Ailyn P.
