Over a hundred of runners join the National Household Targeting System for Poverty Reduction (NHTS-PR) of DSWD FO2 Fun-Run which served as a kick-off occasion for the upcoming second round of Family Assessment and launching of the first-ever Listahanan “Barya lang po sa Umaga” sticker on October 10, 2014 at Carig Sur, Tuguegarao City.
“We are overwhelmed and thankful for the support that you have given us. We once again proved that we are united in fighting for poverty alleviation. For the second round of Family Assessment, we assure you that we will give the best result in updating our Listahanan database,” Dir. Remia T. Tapispisan said.
Meanwhile, the “Barya lang po sa Umaga” sticker is one of the efforts of DSWD FO2 to intensify the advocacy of NHTS-PR not only to the stakeholders but to the general public as well.
Partners from the National Government Agencies (NGAs), Academe and DSWD FO 02 staff took part in the said Fun-Run.
“In DSWD, we are not only resilient in handling disaster but also resilient against poverty. We take action that is why we have this Listahanan database. A bridge in connecting the real poor to the program providers, NHTS-PR helps the real poor to improve their quality of life,” Dir. Tapispisan added.
Renz Trumata of the Cagayan State University bagged the first place while PO1 Elvis Lacernona of the Philippine National Police (PNP) garnered the second place. Another uniformed personnel of the PNP, P01 Adonis Guttiano, emerged as the third place winner.
In addition, the Department of Health (DOH) led a healthy work-out exercise thru their Hataw Dance. Various special awards were also given such as: early runners who first register, youngest runner and best Hataw dancers.
NHTS-PR identifies who and where the poor are in the Philippines. This serves as a reliable basis in determining potential beneficiaries of the social protection programs of NGAs, LGUs and Civil Society Organizations (CSOs). ###By: Ailyn P. Aglaua, Admin. Assist. III
