Recently, a back-to-back skills training was conducted for Pantawid Pamilya beneficiaries and SLP program participants.

A total of fifty-three (53) program participants from the municipalities of Piat, Pamplona and Sanchez Mira, Cagayan   underwent training on Fish Processing and Vegetable Noodle Production in coordination with the Local Government Units of the said municipalities, Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) and Cagayan State University (CSU)-Sanchez Mira Campus.

Acknowledging the convergence of efforts of the above partner-agencies in the realization of this training, DSWD FO 02 Regional Director Remia T. Tapispisan said that, “we believe that skills training  is one of SLP modalities that would definitely provide the participants with something to start with, either through self-employment or micro-enterprise.”

Meanwhile, Mayor Carmelo O. Villacete of Piat, Cagayan committed to provide a production center for vegetable noodle production which will be equipped with the basic tools, equipment, and supplies they need in the production while  Mayor Asela Sacramed of Sanchez Mira, Cagayan and the management of Cagayan State University (CSU)-Sanchez Mira Campus assured the program participants  to help them in marketing their products and provide technical assistance to enhance the quality of their products.

For its part, DTI will assist the beneficiaries to register with them as sole proprietors.

The said training is the result of the skills profiling, training needs, resource and market analysis conducted by the Project Development Officers of DSWD with the beneficiaries in the said areas.

Also, good manufacturing practices was given emphasis during the training.

The above mentioned training program underscores DSWD’s strategic partnerships with different stakeholders and the underprivileged communities as the Department rallies   to promote mutually inclusive growth through its Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP). ### By: GELA FLOR R.
