Muntinlupa City – Department of Social Welfare and Development Field Office 02’s (DSWD-FO2) regional bet, the Respicio family of Enrile Cagayan, was hailed as the “Most Innovative Family” during the National Family Day Celebration held at the Muntinlupa Sports Complex, October 1, 2017.

 

As the regional representative for the National Search for HuwarangPantawidPamilya, the Respicio family not only displayed determination in their compliance to the conditions of the program but also a unique dedication in community service which earned them the special award. The national validators recognized the Respicios for their advocacy in the form of their tricycle which they offer as a makeshift ambulance for neighbors during emergency situations.

 

The awarding ceremonies for the Search is made part of the annual celebration of Family Day in September where the regional Huwaran families are gathered in one venue. The Respicio family arrived in Manila on September 30, 2017 via Cebu Pacific Air and lodged at GreenhillsElan Hotel till October 2, 2017.

 

“We feel honoured for having the chance to participate in such a prestigious event,” says Eliza Respicio, the family’s matriarch. “We really did not expect that our simple advocacy to help other people would earn us national recognition. In fact, we already feel as if we won the national title because of it.”

Eliza and Panfilo Respicio was joined by their children, Paul Emmanuel who joined them in Manila, John Michael, John Christian, Joshua Jandrey and Lloyd Kristoffer. “It was very exciting!” Lloyd Kristoffer, the youngest of the brood described his experience, “We got to ride a plane for the first time, we toured parts of Manila, and best of all, we had the hotel pool all to ourselves!”

The Respicio family took home a Regional Winner Plaque, Most Innovative Family Plaque and cash prize.
