OIC Lucia S. Alan (leftmost) sworn in the new set of officers of the Pag-asa Youth Association of the Philippines Region 02 Chapter during the Association’s 43rd Founding Anniversary.

In line with its 43rd founding anniversary, the Pag-asa Youth Association of the Philippines (PYAP) Region 02 Chapter conducted a Regional Youth Forum on January 25, 2017 in Tuguegarao City.

The said Forum gives emphasis on social realities and issues faced by the youth nowadays including  drug abuse and trafficking in person.

Ms. Louella A. Tomas of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Region 02 shared  the government’s efforts to address this social problem and likewise gave the participants a glimpse of the region’s drug status.

Likewsie, Mr. Peter John Villamil, Cagayan Valley Regional Rehabilitation for the Youth’s (CV-RRCY) Nurse discussed the ill effects of the use of prohibited drugs as well as its physical and psychological effects while Ms. Mylene Attaban, Focal Person on the National Drug Rehabilitation Program’s Pillar III on Aftercare, Reintegration and Transformation Support for Recovering Drug Dependents.

“As the Chair of the National Drug Rehabilitation Program’s Pillar III on Aftercare, Reintegration and Transformation Support for Recovering Drug Dependents, we at DSWD would like to strengthen our advocacy on the various services and intervention programs that we provide to recovering drug dependents and through this Forum, we hope that the youth leaders present here today will be our ally in spreading awareness on aftercare services,” said Lucia S. Alan, Officer-in-Charge.

Around 75 youth representatives and youth development workers from the different provinces in the region participated in the said Forum. OIC Alan also lead the induction of new set of officers of the PYAP.  ### By: Gela Flor R. Perez, Regional Information Officer II
