Participants pose along with trainers from the Office of Civil Defense (OCD) Region 02 after completion of the Basic Incident Command System Training held in Sta. Ana, Cagayan.

The Department of Social Welfare and Development Field Office 02 (DSWD FO2) in partnership with the Office of Civil Defense (OCD) Region 02 held a training on Basic Incident Command System (BICS) on May 3-5, 2018 in Sta. Ana, Cagayan with the purpose of capacitating the participants with skills to handle crisis and disaster situations in a group setting.

The training makes clear the different skills and functions needed for an incident command team to follow to successfully deal with disaster situations whilst making sure that it is done efficiently and with minimal casualty.

DSWD OIC-Regional Director Lucia Alan, herself a participant during the training, urged fellow participants to adapt their learnings to their work setting given that the DSWD is the lead agency in disaster response.

The said training was conceptualized by DSWD FO2’s Disaster Risk and Management Division (DRMD) led by its Head, Mr. Franco Lopez, Social Welfare Officer II Mr. Rommel Gamiao and the rest of the division staff.

The training was done in two batches, with the earlier BICS training conducted last April 11-13, 2018 also held in Sta. Ana, Cagayan. ### By: Chester Carlo M. Trinidad, OIC-Regional Information Officer
