The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) in Cagayan Valley, in coordination with local government units (LGUs), has an ongoing relief operations for families in Northwest Cagayan who were affected by flooding brought by the heavy downpour spawned by Tropical Storm Quiel and the tail end of the Cold Front.

A total of 1,000 family food packs (FFPs) were distributed to the municipalities of Allacapan, Pamplona, Sanchez Mira, and Sta. Praxedes on November 6, 2019 while an additional 100 boxes containing 2,460 ready-to-eat food (RTEF) from the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) were distributed to Sta. Praxedes and Sanchez Mira.

Likewise, some 500 FFPs were provided to the municipalities of Lallo, Abulug, and Lasam on November 7, 2019 as well an additional 450 FFPs for the municipalities of Pamplona and Sanchez Mira.

To date, 17,246 families or 73,383 persons from 173 barangays in 14 municipalities across the province have been affected, of whom 992 families or 3,771 persons are currently staying inside 46 evacuation centers set up by the LGUs.

DSWD Field Office II continues to coordinate with concerned LGUs to monitor the status of affected families and individuals and to determine additional assistance that they may need. ###
