It is said that sometimes those who have less give more and in the face of the Covid-19 pandemic, when a lot of Filipinos face the fear of uncertainty and hunger, a group of extraordinary individuals emerge to convey the #4PsBayanihan spirit.
They are a group of 39 Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) beneficiaries from Nagbacalan, Ramon, Isabela who have received their emergency subsidy from the Social Amelioration Program (SAP) through their cash cards during the first week of April.
Through their parent leader, Juliebeth Modomu, each pledged 100 pesos from their emergency subsidy to come up with a common fund which was used to purchase necessity kits containing bath and laundry soap, shampoo, coffee, sugar, and other condiments.
A total of 40 kits were distributed house-to-house by Juliebeth along with Elena Medrano and Editha Ramos, selecting non-4Ps households in their barangay as the priority recipients.
According to Juliebeth, “Having been in that position before, we know how it feels like to have nothing to eat with no means of earning for our day-to-day meals. Being the first to receive the subsidy, we felt that it was our time to share what we have. 100 pesos may be a small amount for each of us to give but it is a big help for someone who has none.”
