APARRI, Cagayan – To kick off the 3rd quarter activities of the Social Pension Program (SocPen), the Department of Social Welfare and Development Field Office 02 (DSWD FO2) started the distribution of financial assistance to indigent senior citizens in the region on Tuesday, July 19, 2022.

Social pension beneficiaries from the municipalities of Luna, Cordon, and Ramon in Isabela; Aglipay, Quirino and Aparri, Cagayan are the first to receive their 3rd quarter stipend.

In expressing her appreciation to SocPen, Aparri Municipal Administrator Atty. Mary Jane Tadili stated that, “Ang programang ito ay malaking tulong para sa ating mga indigent senior citizens. Ang mga programa ng gobyerno lalo na po ang Social Pension and the rest of the services of the DSWD ay nakakatulong sa mga mahihirap.”

(This program is of great help to our senior citizens in need. Government programs, such as the Social Pension and the rest of DSWD’s services are truly beneficial to the poor.)

“Maraming salamat sa DSWD FO2, ang lokal na pamahalaan ng Aparri ay lubos na tinatanaw na malaking tulong ang Social Pension program,” she added.

Remedios Castillo, 68, expressed her gratitude to the program saying, “Maraming salamat po DSWD, wala na akong ibang mapagkukunan ng pagkain, pero dahil meron na akong pera mula sa social pension ako ay makakabili na ulit ng pagkain ko sa araw-araw.”

The distribution of social pension in Aparri will run until July 23, while the scheduled payout in the municipalities of Luna, Cordon, and Ramon in Isabela will be until July 22, and in Aglipay, Quirino up to July 21, 2022.

The next payout in the fourth week, 26-29 of July is for the indigent senior citizens in the municipalities of San Agustin, Aurora, Benito Soliven, Quirino, Naguilian, and San Isidro in Isabela; Diadi and Villaverde in Nueva Vizcaya; and Buguey, Gonzaga, Iguig and Pamplona in Cagayan.

To date, DSWD FO2 has a total of 244,431 social pension beneficiaries across the region.
Social Pension is a program for indigent senior citizens in the Philippines established by Republic Act No. 9994, commonly known as the Expanded Senior Citizens Act of 2010, which allows qualified beneficiaries to receive a monthly stipend of P500 to supplement their daily subsistence and other medical needs.
