The National Commission of Senior Citizens (NCSC) and the Department of Social Welfare and Development Field Office 2 (DSWD FO2) conducted an action joint meeting-workshop for the Social Pension Program Transition held on September 26, 2022, at Taj Hotel, Tuguegarao City.
The activity was conducted in line with the preparation for the transition of the Social Pension Program management from the Department of Social Welfare and Development to the National Commission of Senior Citizens.
As provided in Section 11 of Republic Act 11350, “all functions, programs, projects and activities which are being undertaken by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) for the formulation, implementation, and coordination of social welfare and development policies and programs for the poor, vulnerable, and disadvantage senior citizens shall be transferred to the National Commission of Senior Citizens (NCSC).”
Present during the meeting were NCSC Chairman, Atty. Franklin Quijano, who joined via zoom, Commissioner Rainier Cruz, Commissioner Reymar Mansilungan, and the DSWD FO2 Regional Director Lucia Alan, Assistant Regional Director for Operations Franco Lopez, Community-Based Section Head Mylene Attaban, Social Pension Program Focal Person Irene Gacias, and Centenarian Program Focal Person Fernando Bainto.
As the lead social welfare agency, the DSWD remains committed and ensures continuous delivery of service to empower and improve the quality of life of the marginalized and vulnerable sectors.
