A total of 193,078 indigent senior citizens from the Cagayan Valley region received their stipends under the Social Pension Program of the Department of Social Welfare and Development Field Office 2 (DSWD FO2), as the 3rd quarter distribution of cash assistance continues to roll-out in different municipalities in the region, as of September 9, 2022.

Out of the total target of 244,431 senior citizens from 93 Local Government Units (LGUs) in Cagayan Valley, 78.99% of the beneficiaries have already received their stipends, amounting to P289, 617, 000 for the 3rd quarter payout.

The DSWD FO2 will be serving more senior citizen clients from September 13 to 16 on scheduled stops in the municipalities of Mahatao and Basco in Batanes; Amulung, Camalaniugan, and Tuguegarao City in Cagayan; Nagtipunan in Quirino; Roxas and San Pablo in Isabela; and Kasibu in Nueva Vizcaya.

Social Pension is a program for indigent senior citizens in the Philippines established by Republic Act No. 9994, commonly known as the “Expanded Senior Citizens Act of 2010,” which allows qualified beneficiaries to a Php500 monthly stipend to supplement their daily subsistence and other medical needs.
