Taking part in this year’s graduation merriment are the Pantawid Pamilya beneficiaries and Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP) participants in Piat, Cagayan as they graduated from their Veggetable Noodles Production Skills Training on March 21, 2015.
Proudly receiving their Certificate of Completion were 21 Pantawid Pamilya beneficiaries from the Barangays of Macapil and Gumarueng, Municipality of Piat, Cagayan where they were trained on vegetable noodles production as well as costing and packaging of their products on March 10-12 and March 20-21, 2015, respectively.
DSWD FO 02 Regional Director Remia T. Tapispisan congratulated the graduates and said, “we are looking at this intervention in order to raise their level of well being by capitalizing on their learnings and the abundance of farm produce in their area.”
Meanwhile, Piat Mayor Carmelo Villacete committed to promote the products of the graduates to their local “panciteria” and to provide a production center at Macapil, Piat.
The beneficiaries were trained by specialists from the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) who commended the interest of the former as shown by their excellent output.
“As a partner of DSWD in this endeavor, we are committed to continue enhancement of the product, to come up with marketing strategies, packaging and registration or accreditation of the beneficiaries to participate in trade fairs and to serve as trainors to others,” DTI Specialist Liza Guzman said.
The vegetable noodles were made from squash, malunggay and egg ensuring a healthy food for consumers. The beneficiaries were able to produce five types, namely: fresh noodles, fried noodles, canton, fettucini and kropek.
The above mentioned training program underscores DSWD’s strategic partnerships with different stakeholders and the underprivileged communities as the Department rallies to promote mutually inclusive growth through its Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP). ### By: GELA FLOR R.
