While the high school varsity players of the University of St. Louis Tuguegarao (USL) held court in their own ground, the residents of Cagayan Valley Regional Rehabilitation Center for the Youth (CV-RRCY) nevertheless fought with their might during a friendly basketball  game on September 10, 2015.

“Sports education is one way of instilling discipline and developing sportsmanship among the residents that’s why we find ways to come up with recreational activities like this for residents at the Center,” said CV-RRCY Head, Ms. Shirley G. Labuguen.

Ms. Labuguen also added that since the match was a partnership with USL Tuguegarao and was held at the latter’s basketball court, the residents were given the opportunity to go out of the Center and mingle with other youths, thus, renewing  their enthusiasm to be reformed residents.

“Masaya po ako na nakapag-laro ako sa USL kasi lalo kong napatunayan na masaya ang buhay estudyante at napagtanto ko ang aking mga maling desisyon sa buhay kung kaya’t mas naging inspirado po akong magbagong-buhay,” shared  one of the residents.

This was the second time a friendly game with other youths was participated in by residents of the Center and as the first game, it proved to be a successful partnership. ### By:  Mark Alwin C. Marzan, Music/Arts/Sports Worker, CV-RRCY; Gela Flor R. Perez, Regional Information Officer II
