The Department of Social Welfare and Development Field Office II conducted a training on Leadership and Advocacy for some parent leaders of Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program in Hotel Kimikarlai, Tuguegarao City on March 30-31, 2016.

The two-day training was filled with modules and exercises about Leadership, Building the Core and Effective Communication. These topics equipped the PLs with necessary skills to further perform their duties and responsibilities as leader beneficiaries and to be partners of DSWD in advocating Pantawid Pamilya in their respective municipalities and cities.

Joel C. Espejo of the Social Marketing Services, who also served as a Resource Person for the training.

The PLs were also given pointers on how to take part in the promotion of Pantawid Pamilya, to showcase the program’s impacts not just in the lives of the beneficiaries but in the community as well, which is vital in harnessing the support of legislators to institutionalize the Conditional Cash Transfer (CCT) Bill.

In this connection, the parent leaders expressed their desire for the institutionalization of Pantawid Pamilya as this will pave the way for the continuous improvement of their well-being.

Meanwhile, the parent leaders who attended the training represented the provinces of Cagayan, Isabela, Quirino and Nueva Vizcaya.

Pantawid Pamilya is a human-development and rights-based program of the national government which is being implemented by DSWD. The program invests in the health and education of poor Filipino children aged 0-18 years old by providing cash grants in exchange of compliance to certain conditionalities. ### By MARICEL B.
