In line with the celebration of the Adoption Consciousness Month, DSWD Field Office 02 social workers and Family and Executive Court Judges join efforts to bolster advocacy on legal adoption during the Focused Group Discussion (FGD) with Family and Executive Court Judges on March 23, 2016 in Tuguegarao City.
“The best interest of a child is always the paramount consideration in adoption and placement, that’s why we continuously seek forum or discussion with our partners, like the family courts, to make sure that the laws on adoption are implemented and a child would find a roof in a loving family home,” said OIC Regional Director Ponciana P. Condoy.
The FGD aims to thresh out queries on certain provisions on R.A. 9523 otherwise known as An Act Requiring DSWD Certification to Declare a Child Legally Available for Adoption such as different issues arising from the provision on declaration of abandonment, updates on status of adoption cases pending in courts, among others.
The said activity was attended by some family court judges in the region, court social workers and DSWD social workers and staff. ### By: Gela Flor R. Perez, Regional Information Officer II
