The 25th year observance of the National Family Week has been made more meaningful this year as Department of Social Welfare and Development Field Office 02 (FO 02) hosted a family day in one of the poorest barangays in Tuguegarao City.
Conducted on September 29, 2017 in Linao East, Tuguegarao City, some 50 families enjoyed the event together with FO 02 staff, representatives from the Population Commission Region 02 and volunteer Social Work students from the University of Cagayan Valley, highlighting this year’s theme,”Tungo sa Maginh1awa, Matatag at Panatag na Pamilyang Pilipino.”

It was an opportunity for the said families to bond and learn more about family planning as the Population Commission came up with an informative, interactive and fun presentation on the said topic.
The children likewise enjoyed the parlor games and appreciated the gifts and prizes they received.
“Emerging concerns on family relations such as loss of interpersonal communications brought about by the advent of modern technology, drug addiction and domestic violence, among others, are persistently reported, thus, we at DSWD continuously advocates for strong family relations by empowering them and providing them appropriate interventions,” said Mr. Franco Lopez, Officer-in-Charge of DSWD FO 02 for Protective Services Unit (PSU). ### By: Gela Flor R.
