As part of the preparation for the implementation of the Unconditional Cash Transfer (UCT), the Department of Social Welfare and Development Field Office 02 (DSWD FO2) thru the National Household Targeting Unit (NHTU) conducted a series of orientation for Municipal Social Welfare and Development Officers and the Association of Barangay Captains (ABC) Presidents in the region.

The orientation was conducted in four clusters: Nueva Vizcaya cluster on March 14, 2018 at Lotus Garden Hotel, Bayombong Nueva Vizcaya; Cagayan and Isabela cluster on March 16, 2018 at Hotel Carmelita, Tuguegarao City; and Quirino cluster on April 6, 2018 at Capitol Plaza, Caborroguis, Quirino.

The said activity was aimed to provide the MSWDOs and ABC Presidents information and explanation on the processes of validation and implementation of UCT.

UCT is the biggest social mitigation program which will provide unconditional cash transfer to households in the first to seventh income deciles of the Listahanan 2 results, Pantawid Pamilya, and Social Pension Program who will not benefit from the lower income tax rates but will be adversely affected by rising prices.

Section 82 of RA 10963 or the Tax Reform for Acceleration and Inclusion (TRAIN) mandated the DSWD to implement the Unconditional Cash Transfer program. ### By: Margarette B. Galimba, Administrative Assistant III/Listahanan IO
