BAYOMBONG, NUEVA VIZCAYA – As part of its commitment and support to improving the well-being of Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) beneficiaries, the Provincial Local Government Unit of Nueva Vizcaya partnered with the Metro Bank Foundation Inc. (MBFI) for the provision of livelihood support to 4Ps beneficiaries through Project HOPE.

The project entitled “Making Economic Thrust Resilient via Organization Building through Agri Enterprise Networking and Knowledge-sharing: a Healthy and Opportunity Program for Education (METROBANK HOPE),” aims to address malnutrition issues in the province and empower Indigenous Peoples Group through livelihood proceeds.

One among the two IP Groups who were recipients of the project was the Cabauan Ginger Association comprised of active and former 4Ps beneficiaries.

In a turnover ceremony, MBFI represented by Mr. Gerald Deveyra Gomez, together with the PLGU Nueva Vizcaya headed by Governor Jose Gambita, awarded the tools and equipment worth P1 million to the Cabauan Ginger Association and the Development for Indigenous Women’s Association (DIWA).

The tools provided will facilitate the production of veggie noodles, bread, and vegetable/fruit chips by the beneficiaries. These products will be marketed by barangay health workers and barangay nutrition scholars, targeting school children to address malnutrition issues within the community.

“This project showcases the positive results that can be attained through partnerships between the private sector, government, and community organizations. We are confident that with the unwavering support of the Metro Bank Foundation Inc., this endeavor will bring about meaningful change in the lives of our indigenous communities,” said Governor Gambito.

Helen Lup-ac, president of the association, expressed her gratitude for the project which shall significantly boost their economic pursuits towards meeting and maintaining a self-sufficient level of well-being.

Project HOPE was initiated by then-Governor Carlos Padilla through a project proposal which was later continued by Governor Gambito. This was also advocated by Former Governor Ruth R. Padilla and the members of the Provincial Advisory Council for Poverty Alleviation Technical Working Groups for Economic Sufficiency and Social Adequacy comprising of the Provincial Cooperative and Economic Development Enterprise (PROCEDE), the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO), the Provincial Health Integrated Office (PIHO), and the Nutrition Division of the Governor’s Office.
