BATANES – The Department of Social Welfare and Development Field Office 02 (DSWDFO2) has started validating 438 potential beneficiaries to be included in the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps).

The said potential beneficiaries who were identified as “poor” by the Listahanan 3 undergo validation on July 3 to 8, 2023 to assess their eligibility for inclusion in 4Ps.

Governor Marilou Cayco expressed her appreciation to DSWD for the inclusion of the province among the geographical coverage of the program, noting that the 4Ps will contribute in the provincial government’s poverty reduction strategies.

Initially, list of names were posted in the six (6) municipalities of the province, followed by the simultaneous assessment through community assemblies or house-to-house validation.

From the Listahanan list, households who have members who are aged zero (0) to eighteen (18) years old or who are pregnant at the time of registration and those willing to comply to the conditionalities of 4Ps shall be registered in the program.

DSWD FO2 Regional Director Lucia Alan stated that, “At the onset of the implementation of 4Ps, Batanes was not included in the program. But now with its inclusion, we are further solidifying the vision of the program to eradicate poverty without leaving a province behind.”

The implementation of the 4Ps program was established in 2019 through Republic Act 11310 which aims to improve the lives of beneficiaries by focusing on their health, nutrition, education, and psycho-social development. In exchange for cash grants, beneficiaries are expected to meet program requirements, such as attending Family Development Sessions (FDS), to ensure their preparedness for a better future.
